The APP role will primarily work with a new general surgeon at the Surgical Associates clinic. Responsibilities include working in the clinic setting, OR, and inpatient rounding. This is an APP2 role, which includes weekend and holiday rotations in addition to M-F duties.
Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) provides service to patients in designated care settings, including acute, short, and long-term care, by assisting physicians, assessing patients, and treating injuries and ailments. Responsibilities include obtaining thorough medical histories, performing examinations, analyzing information, developing diagnoses, coordinating care, formulating treatment plans, prescribing medications, maintaining patient records, consulting with specialists, and counseling patients and families. This role may also involve hospital consultations, rounding, and assisting with patient procedures as needed.
This role will require varying shifts, on-call rotations, including nights, and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
- Completion of a master’s, postmaster’s, or doctorate from a nurse practitioner program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education or National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
- Demonstrated current competence and provision of care, treatment, or services for an adequate volume of patients in the past twelve months, or completion of a master’s/post-master’s degree program in the past twelve months.
- Current licensure by the applicable state board of nursing for advanced practice.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances.
- Certified Family Nurse Practitioner (NP-C) or (FNP-BC).
- Obtains and subsequently maintains required department-specific competencies and certifications.
